This book was short and sweet. I was able to read it in the hour or so that my daughter was playing with her cousin, which is a big plus for me. It will be a great book to read to my husband a chapter at a time, here and there, to help keep us on track in certain areas of our parenting.Her focus is not centered around typical "academic" methods such as flash cards and drills, but is more centered on play, effective interaction, and thoughtful activities or outings. It all feels very "do-able".
She intersperses examples from her own experiences as a teacher and parent that are really helpful to illustrating her points. She clearly and simply explains the science and psychology behind things without overloading you with information. She lists specific activities, games, and exercises you can do with your child that are practical and that cost little to no money. She includes specific examples of what you can say to your child to help them learn and understand certain concepts.
As a side note, I understand that she comes from a Christian perspective and background. She throws in 2 or 3 Christian references, but overall, the books is still very relatable to me, as someone who is agnostic.
This was a great read for me. Glad I purchased it.

This book is so practical!!! I keep it close by to gain ideas for working with my little one. There is so much helpful information in this book and it is a quick read. Every parent needs to read this!
This is a quick, easy read that made me say wow. I am a substitute teacher at one particular grade school, and am amazed at the behavior of many children who struggle. There seem to be more in each class than I remember there being many years ago. I believe the simple advice provided in this book could make a huge difference in lowering that number in future classrooms. Love the specific examples provided.
